Connect With Your Loved Ones

Relationships are about the dance of closeness, distance and repair. Clare Mézes, MSc, RP, opens the door to truthful conversations about how people, when they are at their very worst, either feel dissatisfied or distance themselves from one another.

With compassion and caring, I teach couples positive strategies that include effective communication skills, so that each person learns how to get their needs met, and can, thereby, reconnect and repair their relationships. I believe that in order to have a warm and enduring connection, couples need to learn the art of cherishing their relationship through appreciation, gratefulness, and by remembering the love they feel for their partner.

Transform Your Relationships

We are all in relationships based on our unresolved issues from the past. I work with people to understand their underlying issues and how they show up in their relationships.

Clients learn new skills while working with the parts of themselves that are stuck and that resist using the skills. They learn to find their mature adult selves and become more compassionate and cherishing of their relationships.

I invite you to experience a process that helps you to reconnect and to heal. I treat individuals, couples and families using a model of counselling and therapy that provides a more intensive experience. Therapy incorporates longer meetings, with more time in between sessions, and more directly through teaching skills about how to achieve healthier relationships. Sensitive core issues are addressed, such as affairs, sexuality, addictions, trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem and boundaries, race and culture, as well as those issues that come from each person’s family of origin.

I have been in private practice in Toronto, Canada, for over 30 years. I have had the privilege of working with great teachers and mentors throughout my career. They have instilled in me my own passion in working with individuals and couples.

Since 2004, I have been most influenced by Terry Real and his model of Relational Life Therapy (RLT).  I have also been inspired by other therapists, to name a few: Pia Melody (Addictions), Esther Perel (Relationships and Sexuality), Richard Schwartz (Internal Family Systems), Janina Fisher (Relationships and Trauma), Gabor Maté (Trauma and Addiction), Sue Johnston (Attachment and Relationships), Thomas Hübl (Intergenerational and Cultural Trauma), Julian Shores (Neurobiology, Trauma and Relationships), Isabel Wilkerson (Racial Tensions), Emily Nagoski (Sexual Wellbeing and Healthy Relationships), Barry McCarthy (Healthy Sexual Relationships), David Schnarch (Passionate Sexual Relationships), and Brené Brown (Vulnerability, Shame and Empathy).

I offer therapy via video conferencing sessions.

About Clare

  • This world does not belong to us. We belong to one another.
    - Terry Real, 2022
  • We are all a little traumatized with small t and big T trauma from our past. Tell me what you fear and I will tell you what has happened to you.
    - D. W. Winnicott
  • Family pathology rolls from generation to generation like fire in the woods, until one person has the courage to turn and face the fire. That person brings peace to those that came before him and spares the generations that follow.
    - Terry Real, 2007
